With the launch of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro a few weeks ago, Google is now preparing the launch of the Pixel 7a, an intermediate model with a lower price for those who want to pay little for a branded cell phone and be guaranteed great cameras and operating system, with extended support.
With an unknown release date, the model in question has just had its design leaked with several similarities to the premium duo, just as Pixel 8 had.
The images released by the Smartprix in partnership with the reliable informant Steve Hemmerstoffer show us the future Pixel 7a with almost the same design as the Pixel 7, betting on a camera region projected outside the body, but less protruding.
Like the Pixel 6a, the Pixel 7a should not bet on the expensive and powerful photo sensors used in the more expensive model, which reduces the thickness of the camera module.
Despite this, we note the presence of two rear sensors – it is safe to deduce that they will be composed of a common lens and an ultrawide lens –, in addition to a front camera centered at the top of the display.
It is not known whether the device will have a body with a glass rear finish like the more expensive versions, or plastic like its predecessors.
As for the dimensions, the model appears with 152.4 x 72.9 x 9.0 mm (height, width, thickness), with very few changes in size compared to the Pixel 6a, which is 152.2 x 71.8 x 8 .9 mm.
Like the Pixel 7, the Pixel 7a will have an asymmetrical bezel panel with the bottom region larger than the rest, but we clearly notice that the bezels on the cheaper model are even thicker.
Due to the lack of a lateral biometric reader, we deduce that the smartphone will bet on an OLED technology screen for biometrics under the display. Rumors indicate that the Pixel 7a will have a Full HD display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, and from the dimensions we can deduce that the 6.1-inch size will be maintained.
We also expect its debut with a Tensor G2 processor, even found in the most powerful duo of the Pixel 7 series, also including the arrival of wireless charging to the cheapest model in the family.
More details regarding the upcoming Google Pixel 7a should emerge over the next few weeks, including price expectations, full specs and more.
Google is expected to launch the smartphone alongside the new Pixel Tablet with a charging base that turns it into a Nest Hub. We also expect the arrival of Google’s first folding cell phone for the same time, combining the look of the Pixel 7 Pro with that of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and an adapted version of Android.
